Quick Overview

The Green Connemara Marble "An Paidrin Beag" Tenner Rosary, meaning "The Little Rosary," is a single-decade ring rosary rich in history. Used discreetly during Ireland's Penal days, it's crafted from authentic Connemara Marble, exclusive to the West of Ireland. Slip it on your thumb to begin your devotion, moving it along your fingers with each decade.

How to Pray the Irish Penal Rosary

This small little chaplet can be used to keep count of the prayers of a full five-decade rosary, by looping the ring over a thumb and praying the first decade, then moving the ring to each finger in turn, praying one decade at each position.

History of the Penal Rosary

During the time when the church was being persecuted, the faithful fled underground, which coincided with the rise in popularity of the Irish Penal Rosary. It would be simple to conceal it in the hand and then up the sleeve if necessary. It was done so by removing the ring from each individual finger in turn (beginning with the thumb). During this procedure, each of the rosary's five decades was brought to a successful conclusion.
