Quick Overview

Our Saint Brigid's Cross necklace is beautiful. Born the daughter of a powerful Irish Chieftain St. Bridget or also spelled Brigid became a nun completely devoted to relieving the misery and hardship of the poor. The traditional woven cross is said to have originated during a visit St. Bridget made to a dying Chieftain in which she wove it from rushes on the floor to show the significance of Christian faith. The woven rush cross has become synonymous with St. Bridget.

About Saint Brigid.... Did you know that February 1st is the feast of St Brigid (or Lá Fhéile Bríde in Irish)? It’s also the Celtic festival of Imbolc, and so it marks the start of spring in Ireland. This is the day that all the school children across Ireland get to make a St. Brigid's cross in class. St Brigid the patron saints of Ireland was born in 450AD in Faughart Co. Louth. Saint Brigid is likely more known for her work in Co. Kildare for the monastery and convent she founded which became a center for Christian faith and learning which flourish long after her death.
