A ring enhancer's one and only function is to supplement a solitaire band or ring with additional diamonds or gemstones for the purpose of increasing the size of a solitaire engagement ring and or stacking bands by improving its overall appearance. The two bands stacked give the impression of being a singular, multi-stone ring when worn together as a set. Ring enhancers, also known as ring guards, are predominantly intended to be worn with solitaire bands for the purposes of both protecting and enhancing the appearance of the solitaire ring. On the other hand, they can also be worn in place of traditional engagement rings if desired. Ring protectors, also called contour bands or ring wraps are created to look completely natural when worn alongside solitaire engagement bands that are otherwise worn alone.
